Jury of photo contest

The jury of photo contest «Golden Camera • 2014» was formed of the leading ukrainian and foreign specialists and experts, being not indifferent to the process of photography development in Ukraine. The award jury is composed of the representatives of various fields of photo art: famous photographers, directors of film photography, art critics and supervisors. As a result of successive, multistage, anonymous selection among the numerous pretenders there will be defined the deserving candidates.

  • Amy Wolff

    Amy Wolff is the photo editor at Photo District News (PDN) in New York City. Through feature articles and interviews with photographers, both established professionals and emerging talent, PDN provides its readers insights into photography techniques, successful business strategies, the latest ideas in branding and marketing, and new platforms for publishing and sharing images. Amy is also the co-founder and curator of CoEdit Collection.

  • Cynthia Held

    Cynthia began Held & Associates, her own photography repping firm, over 20 years ago. A graduate of UCLA with a degree in international marketing, she has successfully utilized her marketing talents by selecting and promoting top tier photographers who have gained national and international recognition for their top brand advertising campaigns and multiple awards. Having the experience of both sides of the advertising industry and corporate world, Cynthia brings a unique understanding and flair to the successful promotion of her photographers. The roster of award-winning advertising photographers at Held & Associates currently includes Neil DaCosta, Eric Kiel, Brian Kuhlmann, Patrick Molnar, Mike Powell, Steffen Schragle, Wolfgang Zac and Diana Zalucky.

  • Dawn Whitmore

    Dawn Whitmore is a freelance photo editor and exhibition planner based in Washington, DC. In addition, she is a photographer and artist whose work focuses on identity, gender and technology. She currently holds a studio residency at the Arlington Arts Center in Virginia. Prior to embarking on her path as a professional artist, Dawn worked for numerous magazines and organizations including ARTnews, Barnes & Noble Publishing and the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP). Leading a freelance life has enabled her to work with a variety of clients, photographers and filmmakers. When not in the studio, Dawn is often working with various animal rights and conservation groups.

  • Hugh Merrell

    Hugh Merrell founded Merrell Publishers in 1993. Headquartered in London, it is an independent, award-winning publisher of books and exhibition catalogues of outstanding quality on all the subjects closest to Hugh’s heart: photography, art, architecture and design. Major publications have included Edward Weston, Tina Modotti, Louis Faurer, Man Ray, as well as important surveys of Cuban photography, Los Angeles photography, camera-less photography, architectural photography, etc. Hugh has also been a judge for the Association of Photographers, the Hamdan International Photography Awards and, for the last three years, the International Photography Awards. He acquired a medium-format camera (Mamiya RZ67) a number of years ago and is still trying to do it justice.

  • Kiran Koshy

    Kiran is from India. He drifted into advertising, as a self-taught art director, after a BA in Economics and an MA in Public Administration. His family is still upset with his abandoning the noble career path of a tenured bureaucrat. After working for Ogilvy, Lowe, and Saatchi, in India, he decided it was time for an MS in Art direction at Texas A&M-Commerce (formerly East Texas State). He interned, and subsequently joined The Richards Group in June 2004. Kiran has worked on clients such as Amstel Light, Bridgestone, Corona, Firestone, MetroPCS, Michaels Stores, and Vanity Fair lingerie. His work has been recognized by Adage, Adweek, Graphis, PDN, The New York Festivals, The One Club, The Addys, and Print magazine. Kiran teaches the incredibly successful art direction program at his alma mater, A&M–Commerce. His students have won awards and recognition notably from The One Club, The Addys, Luerzer’s Archive, and CMYK.

  • Lucy Bell

    Lucy Bell is a curator and fine artist, who founded the Terry O'Neill Awards in 2007. Lucy Bell founded and directed The Independent Photographers Gallery in Battle from 2001, and in 2009 moved, to “the Portobello of the South” Normans Road, in St Leonards on Sea.
  • Aleksandr Liapin

    Photographer, journalist, art critic, curator. A few years ago he was a cameraman of the world agency “GP”, for ten years worked as an editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Vecherniie Vesti”, for 3 years was in charge of the photo agency “Fotolenta”. Wrote hundreds of the articles on photography. Had numerous exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. Holds a course on the development of artistic skills at the Cultural Photographic Center PhotoCULT. Supervisor of the photo projects at “Ya Gallery” and Foto.ua, the editor-in-chief of the portal Foto.ua

  • Andrei Zharovskii

    Works in the genre of black and white landscape photography, using only the film-type equipment of average format. Professional photographer from 1999. Member of the NUPAU from 2004. Three personal exhibitions. Participant and laureate of Kyiv, All-Ukrainian and international exhibitions. The works of Andrei Zharovskii are in private collections of Russia, Israel, Spain, France, England, USA, Canada, as well as in collected works of the Museum of International Photography (Cerdanyola del Valles, Spain).

  • Anton Solomukha

    Famous painter, photographer, member of the Ukrainian Academy of Art. Born and raised in Kyiv. Studied in the workshop of Tatiana Yablonskaya in the Kyiv Art Institute, graduated as painter-monumentalist. Lives and works at France. Anton Solomukha is known by recognizable large-scale elaborated pictures executed in mixed techniques, which includes painting and photography both. The works of Anton Solomukha are in the New York Academy of Art (USA), in the Ludwig Museum (Cologne, Germany), Fine Art Museum (Mons, Belgium), in National Center for Contemporary Arts (Moscow, Russia) and a lot of other museums of the world.

  • Bohdan Verzhbitskii

    Director of film photography, lecturer, associated professor of the Cinema and Camera Operatorship Department. Merited master of the Arts of Ukraine. Graduated from Kyiv State Karpenko-Kary Institute of Theatrical Art. Director of photography of such motion picture films as “Fuzhou”, directed by M. Iliienko, “Roaring of the Wind”, directed by S. Masloboishchikov; “Filior”, “The Night is bright”, “Birds of Paradise”, directed by R. Balaian, “Ukraine”, directed by Jerzy Hoffman and many other. From 1992 holds a chair of the Cinema and Camera Operatorship Department at Kyiv State Karpenko-Kary Institute of Theatrical Art. Member of the European Federation of Cinematographers IMAGO.

  • Viktor Lyagushkin

    National Geographic photographer, official Nikon photographer, Subal TeamPro photographer. Winner of many international photo contests, his exhibitions were held in many cities of Europe and America. He has more than 1000 publications and reportages in the most prominent and respected magazines and newspapers of the world. Viktor is 42, he graduated from Theatrical Academy in St-Petersburg, Russia. His specialty is scene-designer. The is the author «Orda Cave Awareness Project» – an exellent book.  


  • Evgeniy Zubenko

    Eugene is a Chief Editor of international journal Photographer, and the member of the Ukrainian Union of Journalist. He organized international Photo Salons and curated numerous photo exhibitions. Eugene created special project – albums from the cycle «The Best Photographers of the world”. He is also a member of a jury of a lot of prestigious national and international photo contests.

  • Evhenii Komarov

    Master of lyrical landscape pictures. Merited cultural worker of Ukraine. Member of the National Union of Photo Artists of Ukraine (NUPAU). Merited painter of the International Federation of Photographic Art – EFIAP. Member of the International Organization of Photo Artists “Sozvezdiie”. Honorary member of the Photo Federations of India and Pakistan. Member of the Artistic Union “Fotoiskusstvo”, Russia. Participant of 900 international photography exhibitions, where he exhibited approximately 2000 works and received more than 320 awards, among which there were six Grand prizes, eight golden medals of PSA (the Photographic Society of America), and ten golden medals of FIAP.

  • Igor Krivonos

    Director of documentary photography, photographer, professor, associated professor of cinematography department of Kyiv National University of Theatre Cinematography and Television n.a. Karpenko-Kary. He has been working as director of photography on the “Kyiv Science Film” picture factory from 1983 till 1997. He filmed over hundred documentary, science-fictional and feature movies during years of work on television and cinematography. The Member of Filmmakers Union of Ukraine and Cameramen Guild of Ukraine.

  • Igor Gaidai

    photographer. In 1991 he founded the first on Ukraine private studio The GaidaiI Studio and the gallery CAMERA. 1985 graduated from the Karpenko-Kary Institute of Theatre Arts at Kyiv with a Specialist Degree of Cinema Operator. Director of many photography projects, He is the author of three books and many exhibitions.
  • Konstantin Sova

    Photographer, lecturer. Founder of Kyiv Photography School (KPS) – the first photo school in Ukraine. Head of the KPS photo club, which is a part of the international association of the FIAP photo clubs. Has been practicing the commercial photography for more than 20 years. Organizer of numerous personal and joint exhibitions: “Black and White Mood”, “Portraits by Coal”, “CUBA: Forward to the Past”, “I am sterdam”, “At the Ends of the Earth”, «On the golden roads of Georgia.

  • Dmitry Shovkoplyas

    Born in Kyiv (USSR). Graduated from The National University of theatre, cinema and television of Karpenko-Kary, director of film photography department. Photographer, director of film photography, lecturer in Kyiv Photography School, curator of Golden Camera International Photography Award 2013, participant of Ukrainian Photographic Alternative (UPHA), curator of photographic project in the frame of IX ART-KYIV Contemporary 2014 (Mystetskyi Arsenal). Professor of photography in The National Technical University of Ukraine «Kyiv Polytechnic Institute»

  • Roman Pyatkovka

    Photographer, teacher, the founder of Union of Photo Artist of USSR, the co-curator of creative Union “Ukrainian Photography Alternative”, and the member of National Union of Photo Artist of Ukraine from the day of its foundation. Roman Pyatkovka works are in Ken Damy Museum (Brescia, Italy), Museum of Photography Collections (Moscow, Russia), National Museum of Contemporary Art (Moscow, Russia), Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago, USA), Museum Artothek (Nuremberg, Germany), and Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Russia).
